Course Eligibility

  • Must be unemployed or on a low income (less than £25,000)
  • You can still apply even if you are not receiving a benefit
  • A UK resident for 3 years or more
  • Aged 19 or older on or before 31 August 2024
  • Must not be in any other form of education or training course 
  • Must have access to either a Laptop/Tablet or PC
  • Must have internet access
  • Must not already hold the same qualification 
  • The programme is NOT available in the following regions: Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool, West and South Yorkshire, North of Tyne, Tees Valley, Cambridge and Peterborough, Bristol, Bath, Birmingham, The Black Country & Coventry.

Course Description

This is a remote course. You must have access to a laptop or computer.

You can work on the Warehouse & Storage course at your own pace, as long as the course is completed within the 2 month time frame given.

Please ignore the course start date, this course has a rolling start which means as soon as you have completed your enrolment steps, you will be started!

Who is it suitable for?

This qualification is for those who work in a warehouse environment and who wish to develop their skills and knowledge further.

How is this qualification structured?

The qualification is made up of two mandatory units and 3 optional units:

Unit 1 Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in logistics operations
Unit 2 Health, Safety and Security at work

How is it assessed?

This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed and externally verified portfolio of evidence.

Once you have completed your Warehouse & Storage element of the course, Jobskilla will issue your Health & Safety course.

Units covered with Health & Safety:

  • What health and safety means, why it is important that everyone in the workplace understands their responsibilities, and how health and safety legislation is implemented.
  • Why employers must carry out risk assessments, what they need to do once they have identified workplace hazards, and when they are legally obliged to keep records.
  • The risks that come with manual handling activities including lifting and carrying, and how these can be prevented.

Manual Handling:

  • The obligations that both employers and employees must fulfil according to the Manual Handling Operations Regulations.
  • The risks and hazards that are involved with improper manual handling, including the development of musculoskeletal issues and repetitive motion injuries.
  • Techniques for safe and effective manual handling.
  • Practical solutions and tips to keep in mind when it comes to manual handling and workplace safety.

Slips, Trips & Falls:

Common hazards found in workplace environments, including trailing cables, contaminated and uneven floor surfaces, poor lighting, unguarded stairs, clutter and improper cleaning methods.

Electrical Safety:

  • The effects of electric shock on the body and why electrical accidents can be fatal.
  • The most common causes of electrical accidents in the workplace.
  • The scope of The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and how they complement other legislation.
