This is a remote course. You must have access to a laptop or computer.
You can work on this course at your own pace, as long as the course is completed within the 2 month time frame given.
What does this qualification cover?
This knowledge only qualification is designed for learners who want to develop their understanding of medication administration and how to handle this safely. Learners will develop knowledge of the procedures for obtaining, storing, administering and disposing of medicines, medicine related legislation, audit processes and issues of responsibility and accountability.
This is a knowledge-based qualification; achievement will not allow learners to be considered occupationally competent in the administration of medication.
How is this qualification structured?
The qualification is made up of six mandatory units:
• Unit 1 Understand the required record-keeping and audit processes for medication administration
• Unit 2 Understand the roles and rights of individuals/service involved in medication administration
• Unit 3 Understand different types of medication
• Unit 4 Understand how to administer medication safely
• Unit 5 Understand the way medication is supplied, stored and disposed of
• Unit 6 Understand legislation and guidelines related to medication administration
How is it assessed?
This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed and externally verified portfolio of evidence.
