Course Eligibility

  • Candidates need to be 19 or older as of 31st August 2024
  • Must be receiving a benefit ( ESA/UC/JSA)
  • Must be able to travel to Wigan for the full duration of the course
  • Must not be in any other form of education or Government funded training course
  • Must have lived in the UK for 3 years or more
  • Must have a valid form of ID
  • Must be a Greater Manchester resident

Course Description

This is a 10 week intense programme (8 weeks NVQ delivery, 2 weeks exams) available to residents of Greater Manchester. Learners must be able to travel to Wigan.

  • Are you keen to start a new career in the rail industry, happy with night work/ outside work/ practical work?
  • Can you pass a  Drug and Alcohol test?
  • Are you fit and healthy and would you be likely to pass a Network Rail Medical?

Course includes, PPE, Medical/D&A tests and the learners all go immediately on to the books of an employer on course completion.

Qualifications:

Level 3 Diploma in Rail Engineering Track Maintenance

Level 3 Certificate in Rail Engineering Underpinning Knowledge

Critical safety licences and tickets including;

PTS (Personal Track Safety)

TIC (Track Induction Competency)

OLEC1 (Overhead Line Engineering Construction)

DCCR (DC Conductor Rails)

Small Tools Ticket

Health & Safety Awareness to the Rail Industry

Fire & First Aid Awareness which are a necessity to the rail network
