Course Eligibility

  • Adults aged 19 or over as of the 31st August 2023
  • Learners who are in work and have their employer's support or who are self-employed and looking to grow their business (employed learners may require a contribution from their employer)
  • Learners who are recently unemployed or returning to work after a break and are looking to get started with an entry-level job in a new sector
  • Learners who are looking to build upon a Skills Bootcamp by completing an apprenticeship in their chosen topic
  • Applicants who have lived in England for at least the last 3 consecutive years, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom (there are exceptions for Ukraine or Afghanistan nationals)
  • Learners who are not currently undertaking any formal education, including another Skills Bootcamp
  • Learners who have reliable internet connection, a laptop or computer with a camera and microphone and access to Microsoft Office
  • Must be a resident in Essex, Herts, Kent or Surrey, but able to travel to London for interviews and potential employment. 

Course Description

This is a 12 week online programme with a maximum of 3 days of 4 hour sessions a week.

Guaranteed interviews in Greater London are available to all candidates upon successful completion of the programme.

These Bootcamps are available for residents in Essex, Herts, Kent and Surrey, as long as they are able to attend interviews in Greater London and prepared to travel to London to work after securing employment.

Learners must have access to a laptop or computer with a camera and microphone and access to Microsoft Office.

AT A GLANCE Skills Bootcamps are free, high-impact, short-term programmes, designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed by employers in your area. You will develop job-ready skills, which will fast-track you to an interview with an employer in the cyber security industry.

Course Units:

Week 1 –            Introduction to Cyber Security and the digitization of data and course format

Week 2 –            Instigating Cybersecurity careers and roles including self-employment

Week 3 –            Cybersecurity basics and who’s at risk

Week 4 –            Core terminology and Cyber Awareness including Vulnerabilities and Threats

Week 5 –            Types of attacks on organisations and individuals

Week 6 –            Internal and external threats to information security

Week 7 –            Cybersecurity measures to protect your business including Cryptography

Week 8 –            Managing organisational vulnerabilities

Week 9 –            Improving information security

Week 10 –         Dealing with lost or stolen confidential information

Week 11 –         Job Preparation – Networking, LinkedIn Profile,, Personal Portfolio Website, CV Preparation, Interview Preparation, Job Search Strategy,  Continuous Learning Resources

Week 12 –         Final Assessments and program graduation
