  • 19 or older as of 31st August 2023
  • Unemployed or earning below £23,104
  • Not in government funded education
  • Right to live and work in UK
  • Learners aged 19-24 must hold a full level 2 qualification
  • Need to have access to a PC, Laptop or Tablet with a webcam. A smart Phone is not able to support the course content.
  • Learners not in receipt of benefit cannot already hold a Level 3 qualification, or higher.
  • The programme is NOT available in the following regions: Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool, West and South Yorkshire, North of Tyne, Tees Valley, Cambridge and Peterborough, Bristol, Bath, Birmingham, The Black Country & Coventry.

Course Description

This 16 day online course will provide you with a Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Management and a stack of new management skills.
This course will provide you with a broader knowledge of the skills needed to be an effective manager, while focusing on the specific leadership areas essential to all new and aspiring managers. Our distance learning is designed to enable learners to gain new skills and obtain a recognised qualification in their chosen subject area, all from the comfort and safety of their own home.

Unit 1 – Responsibilities as a Manager

  • Understand the processes of planning  and allocating work
  • Monitoring progress and quality of work
  • How to handle conflict and record information
  • How to improve team performance

Unit 2 – Objective Setting and Communicating to Support Teams

  • Understand how to communicate purpose and objectives to team members
  • Understand the importance of developing a plan to meet objectives
  • The importance of feedback and evaluation as part of leadership qualities

Unit 3 – Managing Self Development

  • Recognise own values, career and personal goals in relation to a work role and professional development.
  • How to plan development effectively
  • Understand how to monitor and evaluate development activities
