Course Eligibility

 
  • Must be unemployed
  • Learners need to have the following ID: Passport or Birth Certificate (the right to live and work in the UK)
  • Out of Date Passport - Can be accepted if you can provide a letter with your name/address within the last 3 months.
  • Proof of address dated within the last 3 months of the course start date (Utility bill, bank statement, HMRC letter)
  • Candidates need to be 19 or older as of 31st August 2023
  • Must live in the Greater Manchester area. - Areas covered: Wigan, Tameside, Trafford, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale & Stockport
  • Can not be in any other form of education

Course Description

This is a remote course where you will learn from home with guidance from a tutor over 2 days a week.

You must live in one of the following areas to qualify: Wigan, Tameside, Trafford, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale & Stockport

As this is an online course, you must have access to either a tablet, laptop or PC. A smart phone will not suffice.

Pearson Edexcel Level 2 Award provides an introduction to the skills, qualities and knowledge that may be required for employment.

The qualification develops the knowledge and understanding that all those working in a school setting will need. It covers areas such as safeguarding, communication and understanding the school context.

As it is a knowledge-based qualification, it can be taken by learners not yet employed in a school.

The units delivered are:

Unit 1: Child and Young Person Development

Unit 2: Communication and Professional Relationships with Children, Young People and Adults

Unit 3: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Work with Children and Young People

Unit 6: Safeguarding the Welfare of Children and Young People

Unit 10: Schools as Organisations

The course is delivered over 6 weeks and includes:

Expected pattern of children and young people’s development from birth to 19 years.

Transitions, which may affect development.

Influences that affect children and young people’s development, including background, health, and environment and the importance of recognising and responding to concerns about children and young people’s development.

Legislation and policies relating to working in a school.

How to behave appropriately for a child or young person’s stage of development.

Deal with disagreements between the practitioner and children and young people, the practitioner and other adults.

Supporting the rights of all children and young people to participation and equality of access.

Delivery

Live delivery is on a Monday and Tuesday for 6 weeks.

Anti – Bullying

On completion of the Level 2 Support Work in Schools course, you will be issued with one of our CPD Accredited courses in Anti – Bullying & Bullying Prevention for free! This course can be completed at your own pace.
