  • Must be unemployed or on a low income (less than £20,319)
  • Be receiving a benefit (UC/JSA/ESA)
  • A UK resident for 3 years or more
  • Aged 19 or older on or before 31 August 2024
  • Must have access to a laptop, tablet or PC 
  • Must not be in any other form of education or training course 
  • The programme is NOT available in the following regions: Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool, West and South Yorkshire, North of Tyne, Tees Valley, Cambridge and Peterborough, Bristol, Bath, Birmingham, The Black Country & Coventry. 

Course Description

This is a remote course. You must have access to a laptop or computer.

You can work on this course at your own pace, as long as the course is completed within the 1 month time frame given.

Please ignore the course start date, this course has a rolling start which means as soon as you have completed your enrolment steps, you will be started!

Who is it suitable for? 

This qualification is aimed at learners who are new to the customer service sector and wish to improve their knowledge of this area resulting in the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification.  The qualification provides learners with the knowledge and understanding in customer service for learners who deal, or intend to deal, with customers on a daily basis as part of their job role and is applicable to a variety of work environments.

  • Learn when a dog should be referred to a vet.
  • Learn the best way to bath a dog from the clothes you should be wearing to getting the dog in the bath.
  • Learn the best way to dry a dog. Get an understanding on why shaking is so important, identify the best methods from air and towel drying to drying between the pads on the paws and more.
  • Understand detailed grooming, such as nail clipping, eyes, ears, teeth and feet.
  • Get a good understanding why you need to keep your workstation neat and tidy and why appearance is so important.
  • Learn the various grooming emergencies from untangling knots to working with rescue dogs to emergencies and more.
  • Know the law. Know what is expected of you as a business owner in the dog grooming industry from first aid to basic health and safety.
