Course Eligibility

  • Must be unemployed or on a low income (less than £25,000)
  • You can still apply even if you are not receiving a benefit
  • A UK resident for 3 years or more
  • Aged 19 or older on or before 31 August 2024
  • Must not be in any other form of education or training course 
  • Must have access to either a Laptop/Tablet or PC
  • Must have internet access
  • Must not already hold the same qualification 
  • The programme is NOT available in the following regions: Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool, West and South Yorkshire, North of Tyne, Tees Valley, Cambridge and Peterborough, Bristol, Bath, Birmingham, The Black Country & Coventry.

Course Description

This is a remote course. You must have access to a laptop or computer.

You can work on this course at your own pace, as long as the course is completed within the 1 month time frame given.

This qualification is for those who wish to develop their knowledge of the causes and symptoms of dementia. This course will show you how to provide positive care for people with dementia and their families.

How is this qualification structured?

The qualification is made up of four mandatory units:

Unit 1 Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care
Unit 2 The person centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
Unit 3 Dementia Awareness
Unit 4 Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia.
