Course Eligibility

  • Must be unemployed or on a low income (less than £25,000)
  • You can still apply even if you are not receiving a benefit
  • A UK resident for 3 years or more
  • Aged 19 or older on or before 31 August 2024
  • Must not be in any other form of education or training course 
  • Must have access to either a Laptop/Tablet or PC
  • Must have internet access
  • Must not already hold the same qualification 
  • The programme is NOT available in the following regions: Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool, West and South Yorkshire, North of Tyne, Tees Valley, Cambridge and Peterborough, Bristol, Bath, Birmingham, The Black Country & Coventry.

Course Description

This is a remote course. You must have access to a laptop or computer.

You can work on this course at your own pace, as long as the course is completed within the 3 month time frame given.

What does this qualification cover?

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare for further learning or training and/or develop knowledge and/or skills in a subject area.

By completing the qualification, learners will develop knowledge of safeguarding in an environment where they have a duty of care.

Who is it suitable for?

This qualification is an introduction to health social care and children’s and young people’s settings and is for those who are wishing to develop their knowledge and understanding of this role.

How is this qualification structured?

The qualification is made up of seven mandatory units:

Unit 1 Understand the range of service provision and roles within health and social care _adults and children and young people, early years and childcare
Unit 2 Introductory awareness of person-centred support in health, social care and childrens and young peoples settings
Unit 3 Understand the principles and values in health and social care adults and children and young people, early years and childcare
Unit 4 Introductory awareness of equality and inclusion in health, social care and childrens and young peoples settings
Unit 5 Awareness of protection and safeguarding in health and social care adults and children and young people, early years and childcare
Unit 6 Introduction to communication in health and social care adults and children and young people, early years and childcare
Unit 7 Introductory awareness of health and safety in health, social care and childrens and young peoples settings

How is it assessed?

This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed and externally verified portfolio of evidence.
