Course Eligibility

  • Learners will need to be in receipt of one of the following benefits: UC/JSA/ESA
  • You must be unemployed
  • Learners need to have the following ID:
  • Passport or Birth Certificate (the right to live and work in the UK)
  • Proof of benefit with the payments and any deductions
  • Proof of address dated within the last 3 months of the course start date (Utility bill, bank statement, HMRC letter)
  • Candidates need to be 19 or older as of 31st August 2022

Course Description

This is a remote course where you will learn from home with guidance from a tutor. Your start date depends on how quick you complete and return your enrolment documents that will be emailed to you upon a successful course booking.

This is a 6 week Level 1 Business Admin course. Upon completion of this course you will be offered our Academy voucher up to the value of £100 to complete our Payroll level 2 certificate.

How to deal with HMRC, when it comes to new employees, what information HMRC will need from the organisation and how to ensure that employees are paid the correct amount each month or week;
How to calculate gross and net pay: the difference between gross and net pay and why the business must issue a wage slip for each employee;
The different deductions to calculate net pay amounts;
What statutory pay is: record keeping and reporting to HMRC;
National minimum wage, based on age groups;
National Insurance contribution systems: why employees pay National Insurance, the different rates and employer contributions;
How to manage the online PAYE system;
What the employment allowance is;
Retirement schemes;
Different programmes available for payroll;
Tips to correct payroll errors;
The importance of annual reporting

Delivery

Live delivery is on a Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday starting from 9.30am registration with classroom teaching starting from 9.45am, learners are required to log in every morning unless they have made prior arrangements with their tutor.  Learners will be online with the tutor for a minimum of 2 hours in the morning and then they are given activities to complete and log back in for the afternoon session for an hour (1pm – 2pm to allow learners to still make school run commitments they may have).
